The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, through its Lagos Information Centre, launched a sensitisation campaign highlighting President Tinubu’s mid-term achievements at the Ijeh Police Market in Obalende, Lagos. The event aimed to align grassroots communities with government initiatives in areas of education, agriculture, health, electrification, and social welfare.
Mrs. Olabisi Osilaja, head of the Lagos centre and representative of the Information Minister, Mohammed Idris, emphasized that the outreach serves to translate government accomplishments into accessible benefits for traders and their families. “We want market communities to access education, affordable healthcare, credit support for small businesses, and continue relying on the Renewed Hope Agenda for grassroots development,” she said.
On education, Mrs. Osilaja encouraged traders to assist their children in applying online for the federal student loan fund, noting that successful beneficiaries included a trader’s child admitted to the University of Ibadan. The government also highlighted expanded school infrastructure and increased power supply, adding 1,000 megawatts to the national grid. On healthcare, she informed attendees of newly upgraded, well-equipped health centres offering subsidized services under the National Health Insurance Authority.
Several market women expressed strong appreciation for the campaign’s outreach and its positive messaging.
“I am thankful the government is talking directly to us, explaining the education and health programs that support our families,” said Oluwayemisi Kadiri. “We were told how to access loans for students and how these programs can help our children move forward.”
Comfort Friday echoed this optimism, saying, “I wish for a small business loan to expand my trade. I also hope food prices will become more manageable so my business can help feed my family affordably.”
