Just In: Immigration Service Raises Passport Fees Again, Effective September 1‎

The Nigeria Immigration Service has announced another upward review in the cost of obtaining the Nigerian Standard Passport, with new rates set to take effect from the 1st of September, 2025.

‎In a statement released on Thursday by the Service Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the new charges apply only to applications processed within Nigeria.

‎Under the revised fees, the 32-page passport with five years’ validity will now cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page booklet with ten years’ validity will go for ₦200,000.

‎The Immigration Service clarified that the charges for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged at $150 for the 32-page, five-year option, and $230 for the 64-page, ten-year booklet.

‎According to the statement, the review was introduced to safeguard the quality and integrity of the Nigerian passport while ensuring improved accessibility and service delivery for applicants.

‎This adjustment comes barely one year after the Federal Government approved a similar increase in August 2024, which raised the 32-page booklet from ₦35,000 to ₦50,000, and the 64-page from ₦70,000 to ₦100,000.

‎The Nigeria Immigration Service insists the move is necessary to maintain international standards and sustain the production of secure passports for citizens.
