Workers in Osun State have vowed to resist any attempt at intimidation over the withholding of local government allocations by the Federal Government.
Speaking at a rally in Osogbo to welcome Governor Ademola Adeleke back from an overseas trip, labour leaders accused the Federal Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Finance of deliberately stalling council funds.
They warned that the state workforce would not be cowed by the action.
Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state, Abimbola Arapasopo, said Osun workers appreciated Adeleke for prioritising their welfare despite the financial strain, pledging massive support for his second-term bid in 2026.
The state leaders of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) also commended Adeleke for ensuring prompt salary payment and urged members to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the next election.
In his remarks, Governor Adeleke promised more welfare packages for workers, including soft loans, and expressed confidence that the withheld funds would soon be released.
