FCAH&PT Ibadan Enrolls All Students in Geneith Health Malaria Campaign

The Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Ibadan, has taken a landmark step in Nigeria’s anti-malaria campaign by enrolling its entire student body in the Geneith Health Competition (GHC).

Organized by CEOAFRICA, sponsored by Geneith Pharmaceuticals Limited, and powered by Coatal Forte Softgel, the initiative is the first of its kind in Africa.

It focuses on malaria education, advocacy, and youth-driven community empowerment, positioning students as champions of prevention and treatment awareness.

The flag-off ceremony, held on Wednesday, September 16, 2025, at the college conference room, attracted health sector stakeholders, management, and student leaders, signaling strong institutional and national support.

Since its launch on May 2, 2025, in Abuja by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, the GHC has gained wide recognition.

Distinguished leaders such as Hajia Wosilat Giwa, Chairperson of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria; Pharm. Tanko Ibrahim Ayuba, President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN); and Prof. Cyril Odianose Usifoh, Immediate Past President of PSN, graced the inaugural event, underscoring a united front against malaria.

Acting Provost of FCAH&PT, Dr. Chidi Nweze Okpeze, described the college’s participation as a transformative milestone. “This initiative empowers our students with knowledge and responsibility, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s eight-point agenda on revitalizing Nigeria’s healthcare sector,” he said.

Top officials, including Dr. Alonge (Deputy Provost, Academics), Dr. S.O. Odukoya (Deputy Provost, Administration), Mrs. O.Y. Popoola (Acting Registrar), Dr. Okorafor (Dean of Student Affairs), Dr. Oladipupo (College Medical Officer), and student leaders such as Akanbi-Stone Adeola (SUG President) and Adebayo Bolutife (Senate President), reaffirmed their commitment to the project.

Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, MD/CEO of CEOAFRICA and initiator of the competition, revealed that ₦1 billion has been committed by Geneith Pharmaceuticals Limited, with ₦420 million dedicated to scholarships and cash awards. “Ninety-six percent of illnesses reported in school clinics are malaria-related.

By engaging students as ambassadors, we intend to reverse this trend,” he said.Speaking on behalf of students, SUG President Adeola called the programme “a life-changing opportunity,” pledging full student support.

Dr. Oladipupo added that the initiative was timely in the face of growing drug resistance, stressing the importance of sanitation, prevention, and awareness. With FCAH&PT blazing the trail, other higher institutions are now being encouraged to register before February 15, 2026, via the official website.

By enrolling all its students in the GHC, FCAH&PT Ibadan has set a new national standard for educational institutions in championing the fight against malaria, empowering Nigerian youths to drive lasting health change.
