Afenifere Renews Call for Restructuring, State Police Amid Insecurity

Pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, has renewed calls for urgent national restructuring and the immediate establishment of state police to curb rising insecurity across Nigeria.

In a communiqué signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Jare Ajayi, the group expressed grave concern over worsening violence in Kwara, Kogi, Ogun, Ondo, and Oyo States, alongside persistent killings in Benue, Plateau, Niger, and Katsina States.

Afenifere noted that despite ongoing security operations, banditry and terrorism continue to thrive.

It urged the Federal Government to implement comprehensive security reforms, including the procurement of modern technology and empowering local communities to defend themselves.

On the economy, the group acknowledged ongoing reforms but insisted on stronger measures to stimulate growth and ease the hardship confronting Nigerians.

Reiterating that restructuring remains the only sustainable solution to Nigeria’s political and economic challenges, Afenifere urged the Presidency to transmit an executive bill to the National Assembly to give legal backing to the restructuring process.
