Ibom Air Crew Revives Passenger After Mid-Air Scare

An Ibom Air flight from Abuja to Lagos turned into a tense scene on September 21 when a female passenger collapsed shortly after take-off, prompting an urgent in-flight medical emergency.

In a statement, the airline says, the drama unfolded on Flight 561 as crew members rushed to save the woman, who was travelling with her family and had been identified before boarding as a passenger with reduced mobility.

Moments into the journey, she became unresponsive, with no detectable pulse or breathing.

With no medical professional onboard, the cabin crew swiftly stepped in, moving her to the galley and administering oxygen and CPR in line with international first-aid protocols.

As the captain made the decision to divert back to Abuja, crew members worked tirelessly, taking turns performing chest compressions throughout the return flight.

Against the odds, their efforts paid off, the woman’s pulse and breathing were restored before landing.

On arrival, airport medical teams took over, stabilizing the passenger and ensuring her continued care. The flight later resumed its journey to Lagos.

Ibom Air has praised its cabin crew for their courage and professionalism under pressure, reaffirming that passenger safety remains its highest priority.
