Nigeria champions Remo Stars are through to the 2nd qualifying round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
The Sky Blue Stars as Remo are fondly called beat Comorian side US Zilmadjou 1-0 today to qualify on a 5-0 aggregate scoreline.
Midfielder Alex Oyowah converted from the penalty spot in the second to seal the win today at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta Ogun State.
Same venue also hosted the first leg which ended 4-0 in favour of Remo, with Zilmadjou choosing to play the reserve fixture at the Arena.
The stakes are expected to be higher in the second qualifying round for Remo who will play last year’s finalists and former champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.
Remo will host the first leg between 17 and 19 October 2025 in Abeokuta, while Sundowns will stage the reverse tie between 24 and 26 October 2025 at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Pretoria.
Aggregate winners between both teams over two legs will qualify for the lucrative group stage of Africa’s elite club competition.
