The Lagos State government has again reiterated its commitment and readiness to host the maiden National States Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, summit in Lagos.
Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental relations, Mr Gbenga Oyerinde, who made this known during a roadshow within the Alausa secretariat to create awareness on the importance of the SEMA national conference billed to hold from Thursday to Saturday.

The Commissioner stated that the national SEMA summit is to brainstorm with relevant stakeholders’ across the thirty six states of the federation and the FCT, on efficient disaster management.
“This administration has invested heavily in emergency and disaster management in ensuring the protection of lives and property of the residents of the state, so we are inviting all stakeholders’, professionala and the general public to join us for the three days SEMA conference to chart a new course for national emergency management for the benefit of all Nigerians”
Speaking on the objective to summit, the Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, boasted that the success story of emergency and disaster management of Lagos makes it the pacesetter and trailblazer for other states to learn from.
He assured Nigerians of effective collaboration with the national emergency number 112 to combat any eventuality at the grassroots.
“I want to assure the good people of Lagos that Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu has put everything in place to ensure a smooth summit for a more resilient Nigeria as it was President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that created LASEMA when he was the Lagos State Governor, so we are fully ready for the task ahead and we promise participants a more fulfilling time in Lagos”

Highlight of the event t was the unveiling of the SEMA Ambassador, Mr Seyi Aletile popularly known as Seyi Law.
Representatives of NEMA, Fire Service, LASAMBUS, Health, among others participated in the walk for the summit awareness with the theme Strengthening a sub-national emergency management for a resilient Nigeria.
