Radio Nigeria Lagos Hosts Independence Day Schools’ Competition 2025

In commemoration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Radio Nigeria Lagos Operations hosted its second edition of the Nigeria Independence Day Celebration Competition 2025, which featured exciting activities such as the March Pass, Cultural Dance, and Visual Arts.

The event brought together eight schools.” They are, David Hall International School who came 1st in Virtual art, Modesty Ville School, New Ocean, Comprehensive School, Best Top Dynamic School, Degreat Innovator, Insight Talent Academy, Great Richards School, Bosol Godswill School who came first in March Pass, and Cerulean Academy who came 1st in Cultural dance”.

In her opening remarks, the Deputy Director Programmes Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ajayi-ope, welcomed all the schools and participants.

Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the Director FRCN Lagos Operations, Mrs Bolanle Owoyemi, the Deputy Director News Mr Fred Shaka Braimah emphasized that, Radio Nigeria as the largest broadcasting network in Africa with the mandate of uplifting the people and uniting the nation, remains committed at all times to celebrating Nigeria’s unity in diversity.

He stressed that the event was a demonstration of the noble objective, which the children showcased and credit was given to the programs sub-directorate.

“I give credit to the programs sub-directorate for your vision in organizing this inspiring programme”.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of a special Award of Excellence to Mrs. Bolani Owoyemi, recognizing her exceptional leadership and noble character.

The day was filled with cultural displays traditional dance, and March Pass took the center stage.

The children not only showcased their creativity and discipline but also radiated excitement, making the event as entertaining as it was educational.

Special guests at the event included Lieutenant Commander C.O. Ogar and Navy Lieutenant A. Mohammed, both of the Headquarters Western Naval Command, Ordinary Seaman Milkano S.B, HQ Western Naval Command, Corporal Fatolu Oluwadamilare, 65 Battalion, Bonny Camp and Lance Corporal Abdullahi Mohammed, 65 Battalion, Bonny Camp

The Chairman Organizing Committee, Mr Oluleye Adegboye appreciated participants, partners, and sponsors for making the event a successful one.

The program was sponsored by NNPC Foundation, UNICEF, Checkers Custard, My Girl Sanitary Pads, and UAC Foods.
