The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has cautioned domestic airlines against misleading passengers with claims that ticket refunds take up to four weeks to process.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, the Authority reaffirmed that under Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023, airlines are required to process ticket refunds within 14 days of application.
He described the four-week refund policy being circulated by some operators as unacceptable and contrary to established regulations.
The NCAA image maker stressed that the NCAA remains the sole regulatory authority on such matters, warning airlines that they cannot create their own rules outside the provisions of the law.
He urged passengers who encounter such violations to forward evidence of communication from any airline making such claims to [email protected], [email protected], or [email protected] for immediate regulatory action.
“The industry cannot progress if we continue to duplicate rules that undermine the Authority and unfairly treat passengers,” Achimugu stated.
