The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has urged stakeholders to adopt innovative strategies and stronger collaboration to address persistent challenges in aviation fuel supply and pricing in Nigeria.
Speaking at a colloquium in Lagos organized by CITA Energies Limited and the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), Keyamo said aviation fuel is central to air transport efficiency, affordability, and sustainability.
Represented by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr. Henry Agbebire, the minister reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring fuel availability and affordability through continued dialogue.
Chairman of CITA Energies, Dr. Thomas Ogungbangbe, urged the Federal Government to revive the 98-kilometre pipeline from Atlas Cove to Murtala Muhammed International Airport to reduce logistics costs and road congestion
.Former airline executive, Mr. Chris Ndulue, decried the presence of 36 marketers serving only eight airlines, calling it inefficient and unsafe.
He warned that the fragmentation weakens marketers’ capacity to maintain quality standards.
Former Managing Director of FAAN, Dr. Richard Aisuebogun, called for greater use of local refineries to stabilize supply and conserve foreign exchange.
He also urged the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to tighten oversight of fuel quality and depot operations.
