As the year’s end approaches, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has warned motorists in Badagry, Lagos State, to shun distracted driving and take full responsibility for their safety throughout the ember months.
The Unit Commander of FRSC Badagry, Mr. Yusuf Sanni, gave the caution during the flag-off of the 2025 Ember Months Public Enlightenment and Sensitisation Campaign, themed “Take Responsibility for Your Safety — Stop Distracted Driving.”
Sanni said the campaign is focused on curbing distractions behind the wheel, particularly phone use and unnecessary conversations while driving.

He noted that most road crashes are caused by human errors, including speeding, fatigue, overloading, and mobile phone use.
He explained that while the 2024 campaign urged passengers to speak up against reckless drivers, this year’s edition places direct accountability on drivers to adopt safer habits and avoid risky behaviour.
According to him, the FRSC will intensify enforcement efforts by deploying more personnel along highways and working closely with driving schools, transport unions, and community leaders to sustain road safety awareness.
Community rallies, town hall meetings, and free vehicle safety checks will also be part of the campaign’s grassroots approach.
Sanni appealed to motorists to maintain speed limits, use seat belts, and comply with all traffic regulations to prevent avoidable road crashes.

During the flag-off, FRSC officers, Special Marshals, and members of transport unions took to the streets — from the FRSC Command office to Badagry Roundabout and nearby motor parks — to sensitise road users on safe driving practices during the festive period.
