President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved major changes in the hierarchy of the Armed Forces as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture.
Under the new appointments, General Olufemi Oluyede replaces General Christopher Musa as the Chief of Defence Staff, while Major-General W. Shaibu becomes the Chief of Army Staff.Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke has been named the Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas takes over as the Chief of Naval Staff.
The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, said the appointments take immediate effect.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other former service chiefs for their patriotic service and dedicated leadership.
He charged the newly appointed officers to justify the confidence reposed in them by enhancing professionalism, vigilance, and comradeship within the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
