In a bold move to eradicate poverty and hunger, a Non Governmental Organization -the InnerCity Mission for Children, a humanitarian arm of the Chris Oyakhilome Foundation International, has announced plans to distribute seven billion meals to vulnerable populations across Nigeria, Africa, and beyond.
This commitment was reaffirmed during the InnerCity Mission Global Roundtable held in Lagos to mark World Food Day and the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 2025, themed “Developing Local Humanitarian Solutions to Global Challenges.”
Speaking at the event, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, represented by Pastor Arinze Emmanuel, described poverty as a systemic injustice that denies people their right to live with dignity, calling for collective responsibility to create sustainable change.
Pastor Omoh Alabi, Director of the InnerCity Mission, revealed that the organization operates in 109 countries, with over 800,000 volunteers and 60 institutional partners, providing education, healthcare, skill acquisition, and free daily meals to millions of indigent children.
Also speaking, Prof. Qrisstuberg Amua, Vice Chancellor of the Benue State University of Agriculture Science and Technology, urged government and private stakeholders to adopt inclusive economic policies and practical interventions that empower communities and ensure long-term food security.
A federal lawmaker from Rivers State, Hon. Dekor Robinson, pledged the National Assembly’s partnership with the InnerCity Mission in advancing its humanitarian vision.
Founded in 2005 by Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, the InnerCity Mission has grown from a single shelter for homeless children into a global movement dedicated to ending hunger and poverty.
