After several months of suspension, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that the Warri-Itakpe train service will resume operations on October 29, 2025.
The NRC halted services in April after a major fault left passengers stranded, prompting comprehensive repairs, maintenance, and system checks to enhance safety and reliability.
According to the NRC’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the online booking portal will reopen by 12 noon on Monday, October 27, 48 hours before full resumption.
Operations will restart with seven coaches (six standard and one business class), and a temporary timetable with speed restrictions will be released the same day for monitoring and safety.
The NRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, reaffirmed the corporation’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and efficient rail transport, while appreciating passengers for their patience during the suspension period.
