Trump’s Tough Stand Backed by Nigerian Peace Leader

The President of the New Horizons for Peace and Charity Initiative (NHPCI), Mr. Uche Udungwor, has declared that U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent position on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity is in the best interest of the country.

He said the move reflects genuine concern for peace and stability in Africa’s most populous nation.

Speaking in Lagos, Udungwor, whose organization supports community harmony and rehabilitates displaced persons, commended Trump’s stance as “apt and courageous,” insisting that the security crisis has escalated beyond the capacity of Nigeria’s security agencies.

He warned against interpreting Trump’s comments through religious or divisive lenses.

Udungwor lamented the alarming rise in killings, kidnappings, and widespread terrorism, describing the situation as overwhelming for operatives on the frontline.

He argued that Nigeria urgently needs foreign collaboration if it hopes to contain the spread of violent extremism.

The NHPCI President criticized those opposing U.S. involvement, saying many of them have never encountered the horrors faced by communities in the North.

He recounted his organization’s visits to affected areas across Northern Nigeria, where he met victims with heartbreaking stories of loss and trauma.

He praised Trump for speaking out when other world leaders, according to him, have ignored Nigeria’s plight.

Udungwor said the bold intervention offers a chance to chart a new path toward restoring peace nationwide.

Calling on President Bola Tinubu to capitalize on the opportunity, Udungwor cautioned him to ignore voices resisting foreign assistance.

He described such opposition as detrimental to national progress and counterproductive in the fight against terrorism.
