The Lagos State Government has unveiled a comprehensive traffic diversion plan as it prepares for major reconstruction along the busy Lekki–Ajah corridor.
The eight-month project will run from Saturday, November 15, 2025, to July 15, 2026.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the rehabilitation will be carried out in two phases, with strategies in place to keep vehicles moving despite expected congestion.
He assured that government is prioritising minimal disruption throughout the period.
Phase 1 covers the Lekki 1st Toll Gate to the Lekki 2nd Toll Gate, divided into seven work sections.
One lane will remain open at all times, with construction switching between lanes to allow steady movement toward Lekki and Ajah.
Phase 2 stretches from the Lekki 2nd Toll Gate to the Ajah Under-Bridge.
Repairs will be done in four stages, reducing Ajah-to-Lekki traffic to a single lane, with controlled lane changes as work progresses.
Osiyemi appealed to motorists to be patient, comply with diversion signs, and cooperate with traffic officials.
He noted that although parts of the road will experience partial closures, alternative arrangements have been created to ease travel.
He added that the rehabilitation supports Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s broader push to upgrade road infrastructure and reduce gridlock statewide.
LASTMA officers will be deployed along the corridor to manage flow and assist commuters throughout the project.
