POLAC Marks First Convocation, Unveils Egbetoku Hall

The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, on Thursday recorded a major landmark with the successful hosting of its maiden Combined Convocation Ceremony for officers of Regular Courses 1–7, signalling a new phase in the institution’s academic and professional development.

A highlight of the occasion was the commissioning of the newly completed 1,000-seater IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun Multipurpose Hall—an ultra-modern facility expected to boost training, conferences, simulations, and key administrative engagements at the Academy.

Representing the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Anuma Ogbonnaya Nnia, commissioned the edifice on behalf of the Federal Government.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was represented by DIG Sadiq Abubakar, DIG Force CID and a former (23rd) Commandant of POLAC.

The 24th Commandant, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, led the Academy’s management team to receive dignitaries, stakeholders, and invited guests who gathered to celebrate what many described as a transformative moment for police education in Nigeria.

The colourful, well-coordinated convocation showcased the Academy’s strengthened academic structures and renewed commitment to producing ethically grounded, intellectually sound, and professionally trained police officers equipped for contemporary policing demands.

Officials noted that these strides reflect the ongoing reforms and visionary leadership of the Inspector General of Police.

Established as the premier institution for grooming future leaders of the Nigeria Police Force, POLAC reaffirmed its mission to build disciplined, knowledgeable, and service-driven officers ready to deliver modern policing in line with global standards.
