‎Tinubu, Ex-CDS Musa Hold Closed-Door Meeting Amid Rising Insecurity

A major security shake-up may be underway as former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa (Rtd.), met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday evening.

‎General Musa arrived the State House at about 7:03 p.m. and was ushered into the President’s office wing by senior security officials.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, is the retired military chief’s first engagement with the President since his exit from service on October 24.

‎‎Although details of the discussion were not officially disclosed, reliable sources indicate that the meeting is linked to the worsening security situation across parts of northern Nigeria.

Recent incidents include the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, the attack on worshippers in Eruku, Kwara State, and the kidnapping of students at a Catholic school in Minna, Niger State.

‎President Tinubu had earlier declared a national security emergency, directing security and intelligence agencies to intensify counterterrorism operations and strengthen anti-kidnapping measures across the North-West and North-Central regions.

General Musa, who served as CDS from June 2023 until the October 24 military reshuffle, is believed to be consulting with the President ahead of further steps to address the escalating situation.
