The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, has joined the rest of the Nigeria Police Force in marking 70 years of women’s service in policing — a milestone that celebrates generations of bravery, resilience and groundbreaking leadership by female officers.
The 24th Commandant of the Academy, AIG Patrick A. Atayero, honoured the trailblazers whose courage challenged stereotypes and transformed the policing landscape.
He praised their seven-decade journey as one defined by sacrifice, excellence and an unbroken commitment to national security.
AIG Atayero reaffirmed the Academy’s dedication to gender inclusion, noting that it continues to strengthen training systems, leadership pathways and institutional policies that empower female cadets to thrive.
According to him, the Academy remains intentional about providing a supportive environment where women can rise to strategic and command positions within the Force.
The celebration forms part of broader efforts within the Nigeria Police Force to expand leadership opportunities for women, deepen gender equity and build mentorship structures that nurture the next generation of female officers.
