Lagos State University has condemned a viral video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites”, which triggered panic among students and staff.
In a statement, the Deputy Registrar and Head of Public Relations, Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, said the university dissociates itself from the video, describing it as insensitive given the nation’s security challenges.
LASU warned that pranks capable of inciting fear or disrupting campus peace will not be tolerated and urged students and staff to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.
The institution reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment and cautioned content creators against using the campus for unauthorised or potentially harmful content.
The viral clip, produced by Datreez Entertainment TV, showed individuals dressed as bandits moving across campus, sparking immediate confusion as many mistook it for a real security threat.
