Customs, NDLEA Intercept 25.5kg Cocaine, 1,187kg Cannabis at Apapa Port

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted 25.5kg of cocaine and 1,187kg of cannabis, concealed in a Brazilian-flagged vessel and an imported vehicle at the Apapa Port.

The joint operation followed credible intelligence from the NDLEA, leading both agencies to uncover 2,374 packages of cannabis hidden in 55 bags inside a 1×20 container (No. FCIU 6369526) carrying two vehicles.Pull Quote

The drugs, including Canadian Loud, described as a premium and highly expensive strain of cannabis, were packed in 500g sachets and have been handed over to NDLEA custody.

During the joint examination, officers detected the illicit drugs concealed within the imported vehicles.

Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, praised the collaboration between NCS and NDLEA.

He vowed that Apapa Command will not compromise national security, stressing that all consignments will be thoroughly screened, especially during the festive season.

Oshoba warned importers, exporters, freight forwarders and agents against attempting to undermine security and regulatory procedures.

He confirmed that investigations are ongoing and perpetrators will be brought to justice.
