Christian Clerics Preach Wellness, Unity as Potter House of Lagos Embark on Walk for Life in Lagos

There is a need for every individual to keep fit, ensure regular medical checkup, eat a balanced diet and live a healthy lifestyle for physical and spiritual wellness.

Resident Pastor of the Potter House of Lagos, Pastor Emmanuel Uzugbo, gave the advice in a chat with newsmen while leading members of his congregation on a five kilometers fitness walk tagged Walk for life from Iponri to National stadium and back to Costain.

Pastor Uzugbo noted that the importance of physical wellness cannot be over emphasize to function optimally in the house of God and the society at large.

The Cleric urged Nigerians to embrace peace and unity, speak positively about the country and pray fervently for it to enjoy the fruit of the land, maintaining that Nigeria is a blessed country which only needs political will be leaders to do the right thing for the benefit of all citizens.

“When we talk about wellness, you’re very correct.

We had a medical stand here and we’re checking people, we’re checking your blood pressure, checking your sugar level and all of that.

The whole idea is that if you are not well, people come talking about wealth.

Wealth really comes from wellness because if you’re not well, you can’t do anything.

On his part, Pastor Sesan Ibitoye emphasized the need for medical checkup at least once in a year to know the vital numbers of blood pressure, sugar level among others noting that the functionality of workers in the church depends largely on their health status which should not be associated with faith always but reaching out to medical professionals when the news arise to prevent emergency situations which could have been averted through regular check-ups.

“As part of its ongoing commitment to community wellness and social impact, The Potters House of Lagos remains dedicated to initiatives that encourage healthy lifestyles, unity, and positive engagement within society”.

Coordinator of the fitness walk, Mrs Olufunke Adu, said the objective was to dominate the Surulere area and impact meaningfully into the lives of those around the church by way of giving back to the society as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

Walk for Life is a non-competitive and inclusive initiative, open to all members of the public.

While organised by a faith-based institution, the programme is primarily driven by values of health consciousness, unity, social responsibility, and peaceful coexistence.

The spiritual undertone of the walk reflected shared values such as hope, discipline, and collective responsibility for the environment”.

Walk for Life is a fitness and a wellness that has a faith under tone because you can see that it’s put together by Potters House of Lagos which is a church and the whole idea of Walk for Life is actually to engage the community because we can’t call ourselves believers, we can’t call ourselves Christians without ensuring that we bring people together because we say that our God is love and what is love without engaging your community.

Some of the participants who are over five hundred expressed joy that the fitness walk has energized them both physically and spiritually as they were engaged in various gymnastic activities while praying along in the spirit.

The church under the arm of House of freedom led by Apostle Tony Rapu has since been rehabilitating drug addicts in the country and restoring their dignity.
