Sanwo-Olu Appoints Ogunmuyiwa to Lead Lagos Education Quality Office

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has approved the appointment of Dr Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa as the new Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA), with immediate effect.

The appointment letter was formally presented to Dr Ogunmuyiwa at the Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, by the Head of Service, Mr Bode Agoro.

A highly experienced education administrator, Dr Ogunmuyiwa brings more than 25 years of progressive service in school evaluation, planning, quality assurance systems, and educational leadership within the Lagos State public service.

He holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, two Master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Guidance & Counselling, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos.

Over the years, he has occupied several strategic positions, including Head of Planning, Head of Education Quality Assurance Services, and most recently, Director of Private Education and Special Programmes at OEQA.

In these roles, he provided critical oversight for school accreditation, quality monitoring, and system-wide improvement initiatives.

His dedication has earned him multiple recognitions as OEQA Best Staff between 2012 and 2022.

Dr Ogunmuyiwa is an active member of several professional bodies and has made notable contributions to teacher development, school improvement frameworks, and community-based education programmes.

He is also widely respected as a mentor to civil servants and young professionals and has facilitated numerous capacity-building trainings for both government and private-sector organisations.

Congratulating the new Director-General, Mr Agoro expressed confidence in his ability to further strengthen educational standards across the state, noting that Dr Ogunmuyiwa’s experience and commitment would help sustain Lagos’ position as a benchmark for quality education delivery in Nigeria.
