FRCN Emerges Radio Station of the Year at 2025 Nigeria Media Merit Awards

The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN emerged Radio Station of the Year, at the 33rd edition of the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) ceremony in Lagos.

In the individual categories, Mary Fatile of FRCN Lagos Operations won the Radio Reporter of the Year Award, while Stephen Esabu of the Programme Department clinched the Radio Programme of the Year Award.

Receiving the award on behalf of the Director-General of FRCN, Mr. Mohammed Bulama, the Director of Lagos Operations, Princess Adenike Adegoke, described the recognition as a testament to Radio Nigeria’s enduring commitment to informing, educating and entertaining Nigerians across diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

She expressed appreciation to the NMMA Board for the honour and assured that the Corporation would continue to strengthen its public service mandate through credible, people-centred broadcasting.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Nigeria Media Merit Award Board of Trustees, Dr. Dayo Duyile, said the award was established to celebrate hard work and motivate practising journalists for their contributions to national development.

Chairman of the Panel of Assessors, Mr. Dele Adetiba, disclosed that over 800 entries were received across various award categories, adding that only the most outstanding works were selected after a rigorous assessment process.

In a goodwill message, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Idris Mohammed, urged broadcasters and journalists to uphold fact-based and responsible reporting in the discharge of their duties.

The ceremony attracted media professionals, veterans, and chief executives of media organisations from across the country, celebrating excellence and professionalism in Nigerian journalism.
