PDP Caretaker Committee Dissolves Party Leadership in 13 States

The National Working Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, has dissolved the party’s leadership in 13 states.

The committee’s Publicity Secretary, Mallam Haruna Jungudu, disclosed this while addressing journalists in Abuja after a meeting of the group.

According to him, the affected states are Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Ekiti, Bayelsa, Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Delta, Taraba, Kano and Lagos.

Jungudu said the committee also approved the conduct of state congresses in January 2026 as part of preparations for the party’s national convention.

He announced that the state congresses are scheduled to begin on January 9, 2026, after which the national convention will follow.

The publicity secretary further challenged the Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP to prove that it is duly recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to him, the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led group remains the only legitimate PDP leadership, warning individuals against actions that could bring the party into disrepute.

He dismissed claims that the Turaki-led executives have been accepted by INEC, challenging them to produce the code used to upload their executives to the INEC portal.

The PDP has been engulfed in a leadership crisis, with the Ibadan convention that produced the Turaki-led NWC expelling some members of the Abdulrahman faction, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose and Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

In a counter move, the Abdulrahman faction, believed to be loyal to Minister Wike, also expelled members of the Turaki-led group.
