Nigeria secured a vital 3–2 victory over Tunisia in a tense Group C encounter at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), played at the Fez Stadium in Fez, Morocco.
The Super Eagles took control of the match early, with Victor Osimhen opening the scoring in the first half to give Nigeria a deserved lead.
Wilfred Ndidi doubled the advantage after the break, before Ademola Lookman struck Nigeria’s third goal to put the Eagles firmly in command.
However, Tunisia mounted a late comeback, scoring twice in quick succession to set up a nervy finish.
Despite the pressure, Nigeria held on to secure all three points in a pulsating contest.
The victory builds on Nigeria’s positive start to the tournament, following a narrow 2–1 win over Tanzania in their opening Group C fixture.
Tunisia, known as the Eagles of Carthage, had earlier begun their campaign with an emphatic 3–1 victory against Uganda.
Elsewhere at the tournament, record seven-time champions Egypt became the first team to qualify for the knockout stages after edging South Africa 1–0 on Friday.
