The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has again warned motorists against dangerous overtaking, excessive speed, and disregard for traffic regulations, particularly on high-speed corridors during the festive travel period.
The warning followed a fatal road traffic crash that occurred on Monday along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, around the Sinoma area near Sagamu, Ogun State.
According to preliminary reports from the FRSC Ogun Sector Command, the crash involved a Lexus Jeep and a stationary truck parked by the roadside.
The Corps said the Lexus Jeep, suspected to have been travelling beyond the legally prescribed speed limit, reportedly lost control during an overtaking manoeuvre and collided with the stationary truck.
Five adult males were involved in the crash.
Two persons lost their lives, two others escaped unhurt, while one occupant sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical attention.
FRSC reiterated its commitment to safer road use through strict enforcement, prompt emergency response, and sustained public education aimed at reducing road traffic crashes and fatalities nationwide.
The Corps urged motorists to exercise patience, obey traffic rules, and prioritise safety at all times, especially during peak travel periods.
