New Year 2026 Arrives in Part of the Globe

The New Year has begun to roll across parts of the world, welcomed with colourful fireworks, rhythmic drumming, ringing church bells, and a dazzling light display at the world’s tallest building in Dubai.

‎Several European nations were among the first on the continent to usher in 2026.

Greece, Estonia and Ukraine have all crossed into the New Year, marking the moment with celebrations despite varying weather and security conditions.

‎Across other regions, excitement is building as revellers prepare for midnight.

Early festivities are already underway in cities such as Amsterdam and Edinburgh, while crowds are also gathering at Times Square in New York ahead of the famous countdown.

‎In Australia, celebrations have taken an unusual twist.

In a town that straddles two time zones, a bartender says she experienced “time travel,” moving between 2025 and 2026 as she briefly returned home from work.

‎Meanwhile in Nigeria, the nation is on the final stretch to midnight.

The countdown continues as homes, churches, relaxation spots and city centres prepare to welcome the New Year.

‎It’s just moments away — Nigeria counts down to 2026.
