Expect More Transformational Projects in 2026, Sanwo-Olu Assures Lagosians at Thanksgiving Service

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents that the state will witness more transformational projects across critical sectors in 2026, including transportation, agriculture, health, energy, environment and infrastructure, as his administration intensifies efforts to deepen development and improve the quality of life of Lagosians.

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance on Sunday during the 26th edition of the Lagos State Annual Thanksgiving Service, themed “Grateful for Unfailing Mercies,” drawn from Lamentations 3:22–23, held at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos Island.

The Governor said his administration remains committed to completing and inaugurating all ongoing infrastructural projects across the five IBILE divisions of the state within the year, stressing that development remains inclusive and people-focused.

He noted that despite economic and social challenges, Lagos has continued to record steady progress due to strategic planning, resilience of residents and support from successive administrations. Sanwo-Olu also reaffirmed his administration’s alignment with the THEMES Plus Agenda of Lagos State and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s Federal Government.

According to him, sustained collaboration between the federal and subnational governments is key to ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach Nigerians at the grassroots.

The Governor expressed gratitude to God for His mercies over the state, while appreciating President Tinubu for policy interventions under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said are already yielding positive outcomes nationwide.

Reflecting on the past year, Sanwo-Olu commiserated with families who lost loved ones and commended the courage and professionalism of first responders during emergencies and disasters. He also lauded religious and traditional leaders for their continuous prayers and mediation, which he said have helped sustain peace and unity in Lagos.

He urged leaders at all levels to rally behind the Tinubu-led Federal Government to ensure national stability and prosperity, while also calling on residents to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both state and federal levels. The Governor encouraged Lagosians to take advantage of the forthcoming electronic registration exercise to formally register as party members.

The thanksgiving service attracted a high-powered audience, including the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi; Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa; Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Tayo Ayinde; former Deputy Governor, Mr. Femi Pedro; former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji; wife of former Governor of Lagos State, Mrs. Bimbola Jakande; Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin; members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers, heads of security agencies, political, religious and traditional leaders.
