NARD Suspends Nationwide Strike After Vice President Shettima’s Intervention

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended its planned nationwide strike following the intervention of Vice President Kashim Shettima.

NARD President, Dr. Mohammad Suleiman, disclosed this in an interview with journalists, stating that the decision was taken after a meeting of the association’s National Executive Council (NEC).

According to him, the Vice President appealed for additional time to resolve the concerns raised by resident doctors, a request the NEC agreed to honor in the interest of dialogue.

NARD had earlier announced plans to commence an indefinite strike from today, citing the Federal Government’s failure to fully implement agreements previously reached with the association, including provisions outlined in a Memorandum of Understanding.

The association said it will continue to engage with the government while monitoring progress on the outstanding issues.
