The Federal Government has strengthened its Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) initiative with the introduction of a new Impact Challenge, aimed at accelerating digital skills development and job creation across Nigeria.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, announced the development via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, highlighting major gains recorded during the pilot phase of the programme.
According to Tijani, over 135,000 Nigerians have successfully completed training across three cohorts, while community-driven efforts have enabled an additional 300,000 learners to access training resources.
He added that the initiative has already facilitated 15,000 job and opportunity pathways.
The minister disclosed that more than 1.8 million Nigerians are currently in the pipeline as the government intensifies efforts to achieve its target of equipping three million citizens with relevant and in-demand digital skills.
As the programme enters its expansion phase, Tijani explained that the Impact Challenge will help the government measure the effectiveness of the initiative, while also strengthening the alumni network, expanding access to opportunities, and ensuring that skills acquired translate into real economic outcomes.
He noted that the challenge requires participants to share personal transformation stories across social media platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok and Instagram.
Selected winners will receive incentives such as 10 laptops, 200 e-tablets, 10GB data bundles, and other rewards.
Tijani reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to building on the progress achieved over the past two years, describing the 3MTT programme as a key pillar in Nigeria’s digital economy growth strategy.
