NSCDC Takes CNAI Protection Campaign to Ikorodu Communities

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, through its Area B Command, has intensified community engagement efforts on the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across Imota, Ijede, Igbogbo, Ikorodu North and Ikorodu Central.

The engagement, held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, brought together key stakeholders in Ikorodu to strengthen collaboration in curbing vandalism and safeguarding national infrastructure.

The State Commandant, NSCDC Lagos State Command, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, affirmed that the timing of the engagement was critical, noting that proactive community involvement remains central to protecting national assets.

He was represented at the event by the Head of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Kolawole Agbetiloye.

Speaking at the event, DCC Kolawole Agbetiloye commended stakeholders for their cooperation with the Corps in confronting acts of sabotage.

He specifically charged members of the Scrap Dealers Association within Area B divisions to remain compliant with extant laws, warning that any actions capable of undermining national infrastructure would attract the full weight of the law.

Representatives of the Executive Chairmen of Ikorodu Local Government Area and Ikorodu North LCDA, through their Chief Security Officers, emphasized continued public support for NSCDC operations to ensure effective service delivery and security across communities.

Also contributing, the representative of IHS Towers, Mrs. Chigbu Ijeoma, called for sustained collaboration to reduce vandalism to the barest minimum.

She praised the Command for supporting operators’ access to critical sites but stressed that collective responsibility was required to achieve optimal protection across the telecommunications sector.

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu Chapter, represented by Comrade Jackson, reaffirmed the commitment of youths to supporting NSCDC’s mandate.

He also appealed for the Corps’ support in youth-led initiatives aimed at community development and security awareness.

The Scrap Dealers Association of Ikorodu, represented by its spokesperson, assured participants that measures were being strengthened to ensure strict compliance with government regulations guiding their operations.

In his remarks, the Area Commander, Area B Command, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Shola Anerunoye, alongside Divisional Officers under his command, reiterated their resolve to combat vandalism decisively and bring offenders to justice within their areas of responsibility.

The event attracted goodwill messages and participation from representatives of traditional rulers (Baales), Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Federal Road Safety Corps, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Lagos Neighbourhood Corps, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Vigilante Groups, Joint Task Force, Community Development Associations and Committees, Iyaloja, and other stakeholders.
