The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed Saturday, February 20, 2027, for the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections across the country.
Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, announced the timetable at a news conference in Abuja on Friday.
He stated that governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will follow on March 6, 2027.
The announcement comes amid concerns over the delay in the passage of the amended Electoral Act currently before the National Assembly.
INEC had earlier, on February 4, disclosed that it had concluded work on the election timetable and schedule of activities, despite the pending amendment to the law.
The Commission also confirmed that it has forwarded the timetable to lawmakers, noting however that certain activities in the schedule may be adjusted depending on when the amended Electoral Act is passed.
More details will be provided as they become available.
