LaSG Investigates Incident Involving Ambulance at Access Bank Lagos City Marathon

The Lagos State Government has commenced an investigation into an incident involving an ambulance at the finishing line area of the 11th Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the government confirmed that the ambulance, deployed as part of the official medical emergency response for the event, was conveying athletes who required medical attention when a female non-athlete within the event arena came in contact with the vehicle.

According to the statement, officials at the scene immediately alerted the ambulance crew to stop after noticing the situation. The emergency medical team promptly assessed the affected individual and provided immediate care before transferring her to a public health facility for further evaluation.

The government disclosed that the woman sustained bruises and complained of chest pains but was stabilised at the scene. Her vital signs were assessed as stable, and she is currently receiving medical attention and responding positively to treatment.

The Ministry of Health and the Lagos State Sports Commission are closely monitoring the situation, with senior government officials visiting the hospital to assess her condition.

The statement added that the patient remains stable and under close professional supervision.

The state government assured the public that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is under investigation.
