NUJ Lagos to Hold Free Medical Checks for Members

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council, will hold special prayers and free medical checks during its Congress on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the NUJ Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.

Chairman of the Council, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, said the initiative followed recent health-related deaths among members and reflects the union’s commitment to journalists’ welfare.

He urged members to prioritise regular medical check-ups, noting that early detection of illnesses increases chances of timely treatment.

The outreach will be conducted by medical officers from Ikeja Local Government under the Lagos State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Sound Nutritional Health Consult. Services will include blood pressure and blood sugar tests, as well as body scans.

The Council commended its Welfare Committee, led by Mrs. Julie Ekong, for organising the programme, which will begin at 9am.
