Lagos, Kwara Pilgrims Conferred Jerusalem Pilgrim Title in Israel

The second batch of Lagos State Christian pilgrims, alongside pilgrims from Kwara State, have been conferred with the prestigious title of Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP) at a ceremony held in Jerusalem, Israel.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, Very Reverend Bukola Adeleke, Justices of High Court, Permanent Secretaries, other top government officials at both federal and state levels,
Spiritual leaders, and traditional rulers

In his remarks, Governor Sanwoolu who expressed delight for the success of pilgrimage reiterated his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peaceful coexistence and commended all the pilgrims for being good ambassadors of Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Adewunmi Ogunsanya, charged the newly‑conferred Jerusalem Pilgrims, JPs to live out the lessons of their holy journey, urging them not to treat the title as a mere badge but as a call to exemplary daily actions and inspire those around them, reminding them that true pilgrimage continues long after they return home.

The Acting Charge d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Israel and representative of the Nigerian Ambassador, Mr. Ode Ikwe, admonished the newly inducted Jerusalem Pilgrims to embrace their new identity as Ambassadors of their communities, states, families, and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Professor Stephen Adegbite, urged the pilgrims to thank the Federal Government and their respective governors for subsidizing half of the cost of the pilgrimage.

Professor Adegbite later led prayers for President Bola Tinubu, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his cabinet.

In his vote of thanks, the Board Secretary of the Lagos State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Dr. Gbolabo Okudero, expressed sincere appreciation to the government at all levels, the management of Ophir Tours, and the entire body of pilgrims for their understanding, cooperation, and unwavering support throughout the journey.

Correspondent Frank Olorunsola reports that the highpoint of the event was the presentation of JP certificates and lapels to the newly conferred Jerusalem Pilgrims.
