The First Lady of Nigeria, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for greater unity among Nigerians, declaring that national prosperity can only thrive where citizens live in harmony.
She made the appeal during her homecoming visit to Warri Kingdom in Delta State, where she was received by the paramount ruler, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri.
Addressing a large gathering, Senator Tinubu urged the people of the kingdom to remain united despite differences, quoting Psalm 133:1–3, which emphasizes the blessings that flow from unity.
She stressed that peaceful coexistence remains fundamental to national development.
The First Lady assured residents of the Federal Government’s continued support and commended the efforts of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that he has been performing effectively in the state.
On behalf of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), she announced a donation of ₦50 million to support 1,000 women petty traders as part of ongoing women empowerment programmes.
Earlier, Governor Oborevwori expressed appreciation for the First Lady’s consistent engagement with Delta State, describing her visits, both before and after his political transition, as a demonstration of sincerity and commitment to national development.
He noted that her previous initiatives, including the empowerment of women petty traders and the “Free to Shine” campaign, positively impacted the state.
In his remarks, the Olu of Warri urged residents to set aside past grievances to foster peace, progress, and prosperity.
He described the kingdom as proud of the First Lady and commended her role as a positive example to women and young girls.
Highlighting her maternal roots in Warri, the monarch conferred on Senator Oluremi Tinubu the traditional title Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom, also known as Ugbone, meaning “The Light of God.”
