Ikuforiji Hosts Ramadan Lecture for Media Executives, Stresses Good Governance

Former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, has hosted media executives in the state to the fourth Ramadan lecture organised in the spirit of reflection, unity and national development.

The lecture, held at his residence in Lagos, brought together journalists, media managers and Islamic scholars who discussed the importance of ethical leadership and the role of citizens in building a better society.

Delivering the first lecture, Islamic scholar, Ustaz Hakeem Olapade, spoke on the theme “Islam and Good Governance,” stressing that leadership in Islam is rooted in justice, accountability and service to humanity.

He noted that leaders must see public office as a trust and avoid actions that undermine the welfare of the people.

Olapade urged those in positions of authority to uphold transparency and fairness, adding that good governance can only thrive when leaders fear God and prioritise the collective interest of society above personal gains.

In the second lecture, Ustaz Mutiu Oroilu highlighted the “Role of Muslims in Nation Building,” urging adherents of Islam to contribute positively to national development through integrity, peaceful coexistence and active civic participation.

Oroilu said Muslims must serve as agents of positive change in their communities, stressing that religious teachings encourage diligence, compassion and responsibility toward society.

The highlight of the gathering was the breaking of the Ramadan fast with the guests, as Ikuforiji and his family hosted the media executives to an iftar, reinforcing the spirit of fellowship and unity that characterises the holy month of Ramadan.
