Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu has urged all road users to exercise extreme caution, observe speed limits, and adhere strictly to traffic regulations at all times, noting that reckless driving and overspeeding endanger lives and could lead to serious accidents.

This followed a road traffic crash that occurred at the Onipanu Bus Stop, Onipanu, on Wednesday March 18 at 5:32 PM and fortunately no fatality was recorded.
Dr Oke-Osanyintolu said that upon arrival at the scene, the Agency’s team observed a collision involving a metallic grey Suzuki Alto (registration number BDG611HJ) and a metallic grey Honda Accord (registration number JJJ141KA) on the expressway.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that both vehicles were travelling at high speed before the collision. The impact caused the Suzuki Alto to spin into the opposite lane, sustaining severe damage” PS said
“The Honda Accord had a single occupant, while the Suzuki Alto carried three occupants—a teacher and two students of Lagos State Model Junior College, Igbonla, Epe”.
“However, two JSS 2 students identified as Animashaun Ridwan and Ogunbamowo Michael reported head and eye discomfort and were immediately attended to by the Agency’s paramedics, stabilised, and administered first aid before being safely handed over to their parents.
“The teacher involved has been identified as Mr Joseph, Basic Technology teacher at Lagos State Model Junior Secondary School, Igbonla, Epe”
The LASEMA Boss said the victims were taken to safety, while the badly damaged Suzuki Alto was recovered from the road using LASEMA’s Light Tow Truck to prevent a secondary incident, and both vehicles have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for further investigation.
The Agency coordinated with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a swift and safe resolution of the incident. Responders at the scene included the Agency’s Rescue Team (LRT), LRU Paramedics, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and the NPF (Ilupeju and Alakara divisions).
The Agency calls on motorists to prioritise safety to prevent similar incidents and protect lives on Lagos roads.
