The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has pledged to address the concerns of residents and bring perpetrators to justice following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
The attack, carried out by yet-to-be-identified assailants, left several people dead and many others injured, plunging the state into mourning.During a visit to the affected community, the governor condemned the violence, describing it as “unprovoked and ungodly,” and said such incidents had become unacceptable.
He announced plans to give the victims a befitting burial, moving away from the mass burial approach often adopted after similar attacks in the past.
Governor Mutfwang also appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid reprisals, assuring them that the government is committed to restoring peace and ensuring accountability.
Community representatives, including youth leader Samson Ciroma, expressed grief over the incident and raised concerns about local challenges, including allegations that the attackers may have received support.
Meanwhile, a 48-hour curfew imposed in Jos North remains in force as authorities seek to prevent further violence and maintain order.
