Lagos Assembly Endorses Tinubu for Second Term, Seeks Nationwide Backing

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have unanimously endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in office, calling on state legislatures, political parties, and the National Assembly to support his re-election bid.

The resolution was adopted during plenary on Tuesday following a motion moved by Ladi Ajomale, who represents Oshodi/Isolo Constituency II.

While presenting the motion, Ajomale outlined key achievements of the administration over the past three years, noting that ongoing reforms require continuity to achieve long-term impact.

He highlighted major policy decisions and programmes, including the student loan scheme, fuel subsidy removal, and infrastructure development projects such as the Lagos Coastal Road, as critical milestones that should be sustained.

Supporting the motion, Deputy Leader of the House, Richard Kasumu, stated that Nigeria’s foreign reserves have improved under the current administration, adding that a growing trade surplus reflects the effectiveness of its economic policies.

Also contributing, Temitope Adedeji commended efforts to strengthen local government autonomy, describing it as a major step toward enhancing grassroots governance.

Similarly, Gbolahan Yishawu praised reforms in the education sector, particularly the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and the introduction of a consumer credit scheme.

In her remarks, Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda pointed to improvements in Nigeria’s international image, as well as progress in infrastructure and administrative services, including passport processing.

Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, said the endorsement reflects the position of their constituents, expressing confidence in Tinubu’s leadership to sustain national development.

He urged lawmakers to take the message to the grassroots, as the House formally adopted the motion backing the President’s second-term ambition.
