The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has sensitised Ambassador-designates on the National Identity Project and Values Charter to strengthen Nigeria’s global image through strategic value reorientation.
Director General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, represented by Mr. David Akoji, Director, Special Duties/States Operations, delivered a lecture at the three-day induction for the Ambassador-designates at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.
According to a statement signed by Bala Musa, Director, Communication and Media, NOA, the session equipped envoys with critical insights ahead of their postings to various countries worldwide.
The engagement highlighted the importance of embedding Nigeria’s core values and identity framework within its diplomatic corps, positioning them as key drivers of national image globally.
This initiative aligns with Federal Executive Council approval mandating compulsory orientation on Nigerian identity and the National Values Charter for all newly appointed government officials before assumption of office.
Mallam Issa-Onilu said extending sensitisation to the Ambassador-designates is strategic to NOA’s global perception management agenda, enhancing diplomats’ capacity to project a consistent, positive national image anchored on shared values.
He stated that the training aims to ensure diplomatic representatives promote civic responsibility and national cohesion while representing Nigeria’s interests and reputation across their assigned countries abroad.
The NOA DG reiterated the resolve to continue engaging key stakeholders across all sectors in promoting responsible citizenship and a unified national identity.
