The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has synergised with security operatives to ensure maximum security at its examination centres as the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates progresses across the country.
The Head of National Office of WAEC in Nigeria, Dr. Amos Dangut made this known while addressing newsmen in Lagos.
He said that already, his council had contacted relevant security organizations to support WAEC in securing lives and property at its examination centres particularly, at the volatile areas.
He however, appealed to politicians and Nigerians in general not to engage in any form of political violence capable of disrupting the examination, as political campaigns towards the 2027 elections intensifies.
Commenting on the Computer Based Test, CBT, in the conduct of The examination, the HNO said that there had been improvement in the number of schools that had adopted the CBT system in the conduct of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates this year compared to that of last year.
He explained that while forty schools adopted the CBT system last year, four hundred and fifty schools had so far keyed into the system as this year’s examinations progresses
Dr. Dangut however, advised candidates that had issues with withheld results to visit the Examination Malpractice portal on WAEC website to see what could have went wrong with their results.
The WAEC boss in Nigeria gave the assurance that the results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination for school candidates would be released forty-five days after the completion of the examination while the certificates would be issued Ninety days after the completion of the examination.
He appealed to Parents and Guardians to guide their wards against engaging in examination malpractice so that they would not to be punished appropriately.
He also warned perpetrators of examination fraud who were always in the business of assisting candidates to cheat at examinations to desist from such act or face the wrath of the law.
