Corps Members Urged to join Government in Building a Better Nigeria

National Youth Service Corps Members have been asked to join hands with governments in building a better Nigeria through selfless service, sacrifice and promoting unity wherever they found themselves

The Coordinator, NYSC, Lagos State, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang made the plea at the closing of the 2026 Batch ‘A Stream two orientation course for Corps members deployed to Lagos state.

She said that the responsibility of the Corps members was to always see themselves as a tool for positive Change in the society.

She stressed that this fact explains why the Corps members had been exposed to various intensive trainings and skills acquisition in the three weeks orientation course .

She explained that this was with the aim of impacting enduring values of unity, teamwork and national integration in the Corps members as specified in the pillars upholding the NYSC Scheme.

She however, advised the 2026 Batch ‘A Stream two Corps members to take their posting to their Primary places of assignment in good faith and contribute their quota to the development of their host communities.

Mrs. Salmwang urged the Corps members to always remember that the NYSC uniform on them was not just a symbol, but a call to service, a badge of responsibility and a Mark of trust placed up on them by the nation.

The NYSC boss in Lagos State however, appealed to the people of Lagos’ State to continue to extend their warmth, love and hospitality to the Corps members.

She appealed to the people of Lagos’ State to continue to support the scheme in the area of providing accomodation for Corps members to ensure a more rewarding and fulfilling service year for them.

In a message to the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended the Corps members for their peaceful conduct throughout the orientation course and for giving their utmost attention to the various training programmes packaged into the orientation course.

He gave the assurance that the Lagos State government would continue to support the NYSC in carrying out its mandate in the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu urged the Corps members to live peacefully with people in their host communities and contribute immensely to the development of the localities where they would be serving.

Certificate of Commendation were later present to some Corps members and staff of NYSC that performed well during the orientation course.

The Corps members later gave three hearty cheers to the Governor of Lagos State.
