Nigeria’s AI-Powered Physiotherapy Platform Targets Healthcare Access Gap

A new Nigeria-focused digital health platform, Open Doors Access, has launched an AI-powered physiotherapy solution aimed at improving access to rehabilitation care for people living with mobility-related conditions.

Founder of the platform, Moyo Daniels, said the initiative was inspired by the challenges faced by many Nigerians who lack access to structured physiotherapy and recovery support.

She explained that the mobile and web-based platform provides personalised recovery plans generated through user input, allowing patients to begin guided rehabilitation remotely.

According to Daniels, the platform is designed to support people dealing with conditions such as postpartum complications, sports injuries, stroke recovery, arthritis and other mobility challenges.

Development team lead, Fikayo Abolade, said the system connects users directly with licensed physiotherapists who can monitor and guide recovery without requiring frequent hospital visits.

He noted that the platform was built to remain affordable and accessible, particularly for underserved and rural communities, with support available through both smartphones and web browsers.

The developers said the platform, which began rollout in 2026, currently has about 100 test users and has received positive feedback from healthcare professionals involved in the pilot phase.

On her part, Dr Foluke Fayemi, described the innovation as a timely intervention capable of improving access to rehabilitation services and strengthening healthcare delivery.a

The developers added that discussions are ongoing with physiotherapy bodies and healthcare stakeholders to support wider adoption and integration into Nigeria’s healthcare system.

Users can access the platform through the official website, Open Doors Access.
