The President of the Aeronautical Information Management Association of Nigeria, AIMAN, Dr Ibrahim Audu, says ongoing reforms in the aviation information management sector are aimed at improving air safety and aligning Nigeria with global aviation standards.
In an interview on the 2026 World AIS Day celebration today, Dr Audu said the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority’s recommendation for certification of AIM professionals would strengthen professionalism, operational efficiency and safety oversight in the industry.
He added that the approval of a new AIM and Quality Management System structure by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr Festus Keyamo, followed recommendations from the 2023 ICAO audit and would enhance accountability and safer air navigation operations.
Dr Audu, however, expressed concern over funding challenges affecting the association’s activities, including this year’s World AIS Day celebration.
He explained that the recent increase in membership dues became necessary to support the association’s operations and sustain programmes focused on professionalism, training and aviation safety.
