Sanwo-Olu Commends Orderly APC Presidential Primary in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday participated in the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primary election at Ward E3, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island, describing the exercise as peaceful, orderly and reflective of internal party democracy.

The governor, who arrived at the polling venue alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, commended party members, officials and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for their patience, organisation and commitment to a seamless process.

Speaking with journalists after casting his vote, Sanwo-Olu said the direct primary model had provided party members at the grassroots with the opportunity to freely participate in the selection of the APC’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to him, the conduct of the exercise across wards in Lagos demonstrated the strength and unity of the party at the grassroots level.

The governor noted that the turnout at his ward was impressive, revealing that about 1,887 party members had been accredited before his arrival at the venue.

He expressed confidence that the exercise taking place across the 245 wards in Lagos State would conclude peacefully and successfully.

Sanwo-Olu also praised party officials and electoral officers for ensuring proper coordination of the process, adding that members conducted themselves responsibly throughout the exercise.

The governor further disclosed that he had earlier accompanied President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to cast his vote at Ward L2 in the Ikoyi-Obalende area of Eti-Osa Local Government Area.

Party members across Lagos State participated in the APC presidential primary election amid security presence and monitoring by relevant electoral authorities.
