The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu has assured residents of the state that all first responders are on top gear in case of any emergency before, during and after the Sallah celebration
Speaking with newsmen at Alausa, Dr Oke-Osanyintolu felicitated the Muslim faithful for the Sallah celebration but however cautioned against any act that could lead to Disaster and Emergency.
“All emergency structures of Lagos State are on top gear and you can see the NEMA with us.
“But the challenges still remain the nin challant attitudes of residents to emergency management”
“Despite the fact that our scorecard is in their hands, we want to do everything that is humanly possible to ensure that they give us good grades, so we will not relent in training and retraining all Stakeholders in the Emergency and Disaster management squad”
“As you all know, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu has taken ownership and provided the political will in emergency management and disaster management.
Mr. Governor monitor and evaluate our activities.
So if we have put a structure in place, we have put a lot of things in place.
What is the problem? Where are we experiencing emergency? Why are we having disaster”?
“When we have put a lot of things in place, now the problem is the people themselves” he said.
Dr Oke-Osanyintolu appealed to Lagos residents not to panic during emergencis but our people also need t change their mindsets and perceptions to a positive mindset, to a positive perception.
“We appeal to the people they should do the needful. They should abide by the rules and regulations.
And lastly, see something, say something. With any form of emergency, either in the form of an Early warning, either in form of response, call us the emergency number is 112 or 767
