Key stakeholders in Nigeria’s transportation sector will gather in Lagos on September 2026, as the Transportation Correspondents Association of Nigeria (TCAN) hosts its Annual Transport Summit aimed at exploring how transportation logistics can accelerate economic growth and national development.
The summit, themed “Unlocking Economic Growth Through Transportation Logistics,” will feature the presentation of Champions of Transport Industry Development (CoTID) awards to outstanding government agencies and industry operators that have made significant contributions to the growth of Nigeria’s transportation sector.
In a statement, TCAN said the event will bring together major stakeholders from the aviation, maritime, rail, road transport and logistics sectors, alongside policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, development partners and captains of industry.
TCAN Chairman, Tola Adenubi, described transportation logistics as the backbone of economic development, stressing that agencies, operators and state governments making deliberate efforts to improve transportation infrastructure and services deserve recognition.
According to him, efficient cargo handling at airports and seaports, inland waterways transportation, passenger movement and last-mile delivery systems are critical to boosting Nigeria’s competitiveness and economic productivity.
Adenubi noted that the summit will examine innovative strategies, digital transformation, infrastructure financing, public-private partnerships and regulatory reforms needed to optimise the nation’s transportation and logistics ecosystem.
Chairman of the 2026 Summit Committee, Suleiman Idris, said participants will engage in high-level panel discussions, keynote presentations and interactive sessions aimed at assessing the current state of Nigeria’s transportation logistics architecture and identifying bottlenecks hindering seamless cargo and passenger movement.
He added that stakeholders will also evaluate the impact of multimodal transport integration on economic expansion, explore investment opportunities within the logistics and supply chain sector, and develop policy recommendations to enhance operational efficiency and global competitiveness.
Over the years, the TCAN Annual Transport Summit has established itself as a credible platform for constructive dialogue between government agencies and transport operators, helping to shape policy conversations while promoting transparency, accountability and sustainable growth in Nigeria’s transportation industry.
